Earlham HS Jazz earns 1st Place in Class 2A

The Earlham High School Jazz Band earned the "1st Place" distinction in Class 2A at the Jim Coffin Jazz Festival.  The festival was held at Woodward Granger High School on Friday, February 26th.  Other bands competing in Class 2A included Pleasantville, Tri-Center, St. Edmonds, Ogden, Madrid, and South Central Calhoun.  The outstanding soloist award in Class 2A was presented to Earlham's own Austin Griswold (alto saxophone).  The other Earlham students presented with outstanding performer awards were Grant Becker (guitar) and John Tibben (baritone saxophone).  The Jazz Band's next performance will be at the Hoover High School Jazz Festival in Des Moines on Saturday, March 5th.  The band's performance time is 2:20 PM.  The HS Jazz Band will also be performing at the 7-12 Variety Show held at 6:00 PM on March 10th in the Earlham Auditorium.
