Earlham Musicians Compete

posted Apr 16, 2012, 9:07 AM by mwright@ecsdcards.com

Saturday, April 14, found many of the Earlham High School band and choir in competition.  Martensdale-St. Mary’s Schools was host of the Solo/Ensemble (individuals and small groups) contest.  Earlham took 10 instrumental solos and ensembles, while there were 11 choral entries.  Each entry was judged on their performance and rated as Division I – Superior; Division II – Excellent; Division III – Good; Division IV – Fair; or Division V – Poor.  Earlham musicians brought home 15 Division I ratings, and 6 Division II ratings – with NO individual or group receiving anything lower.  This is a tremendous accomplishment for these students and reflects their hard work and dedication to the music program.  Under the direction of Nate Sletten, 6-12 Instrumental Music, and Ashley Maiers, 6-12 Choral Music, these students spent many hours in preparation and have outstanding performances to show for their efforts.  Congratulations Musicians!!
