Clarification of food items for lunch

We are on the OVS system, where there are 5 components of lunch.

Milk, Meat

Grains

Fruits, Vegetables

Students may take all of anything that is offered.

You must take 3 of the five components for it to be a reimbursable lunch. That means we get money back from the government to pay for the foods we feed you.

If you chose 3 of the 5, 1 must be ½ cup, 2 scoops, of fruit or vegetable

If you chose not to eat 3 of the 5 components, all items on your lunch tray will be sold singly

Like ala carte. You or your parents will pay more for your lunch than the lunch price.

All MS and HS students will need on their lunch trays, no exception-

1 full fruit-(banana, apple orange pear, etc)

                      Or
2 scoops of fruit (can be the same or different fruit)

                      Or

2 scoops vegetables (can be the same or different vegetable)

                       Or

A combination of fruits and vegetables

      1 scoop fruit AND 1 scoop of vegetables

Salad bar eaters must take lettuce to qualify as a salad bar. You may take 1 scoop of each of the following:  Ham, cheese, cottage cheese. Or you can take 2 scoops of only one of the three. Baked potato bar eaters must do the same: 1 scoop of ham, cheese, and cottage cheese. Or you can chose to take 2 scoops of just one of these items. Salad bar and baked potato bar eaters may also cross over and get any of the vegetables offered for the day. You may take ½ cup of fruit, same as all others, and can get the dessert of the day if there is one.

Soup is available on Monday’s with the baked potato. If you want soup with your hot lunch, you must purchase it through the cashier for $1.25.
